take control of your onpage SEO, it’s not difficult but it requires consistency — don’t get lazy

SEO, Basics, SEO Garbage in, SEo Garbage Out, Scott Sakamoto, SEO, anatomy of a search result, SEO Ranking, SEO Score, on page SEO, technical SEOMy SEO techniques have changed slightly over time while Google’s algorithms have changed drastically over the years and continues to evolve with new technology and the growth of social media. If you have tackled it in the past it’s a good idea to revisit your efforts. If you’ve put it off, deeming it too complicated or perhaps not that important to learn – well, this article is for you

If that’s the case, let’s get real.

Many of the strategies promoted today were excellent strategies in the past and still are today. The reality is basic good SEO Optimization practices and technique are still relevant and still work.

Where your SEO strategies can go off the rails is when you try to cheat the system. There are no shortcuts. Do the work correctly the first time and consistently moving forward and you will prosper.

Stay the Course; Tale of Two Paths
Technical SEO vs. OnPage SEO

As busi, ess owners we get so consumed with making the biggest impact on to the hard dollars we spent that we forget to take care of the very foundation (Best Practices) our marketing efforts are built on.

We want our website bigger, better and faster than the competition. We are in an endless loop to producing content, link bait campaigns, acquiring high quality links, consolidating sections of our website, and keeping an eye on external changes or algorithm updates. All the while technical ignorance creeps in and clutter corrodes our website’s foundation (over time) resulting in lost revenue.

Identify and fix the Clutter.

Technical SEO

(the Back-End; the technical)

Forget it. As a business owner, unless you’re particularly skilled at back-end website work and coding (even though it’s simple and easy), leave it those who know. Hire a Professional or Learn.

The Technical SEO checklist:
If the list below looks foreign or makes your eyes gloss over then forget about doing it yourself. Hire a professional.
There are plenty of other things you can do on your own – these are some I would recommend leaving to the experts. Ronin Studios’ SEO practices consider each of the following practices on every Website we create and develop.

  • IP Detection / Redirection
  • Site-Speed
  • 301 and 302 Redirects
  • HTTP Headers
  • Crawler Access
  • Javascript
  • Flash; get rid of it

Yes, Technical SEO is what it sounds like, it’s technical.

If you want to learn by all means do. Ronin Studios can lead, demonstrate or teach you and your collaborative business team (via workshops) simple consistent techniques to reach your content marketing goals.

OnPage SEO

(you can do this and should)

For You to Master
OnPage SEO is when you use a technique that applies to content on one page, while Technical SEO refers to things that are technical (Back-End, not visible) components of your website to improve your search ranking.

I have to chuckle. Often when I explain how easy and simple “Basic SEO” or “OnPage SEO” is to someone they will try to game Google’s System and quickly think of ways to cheat — Don’t!

As I said previously – there is no cheating – there is no gaming the system. There are tried and true ways of increasing your SEO Score. If you pay attention to good “Best Practices” for OnPage SEO and implement them, I promise you your SEO score will improve from what it is today. If not, call me.

OnPage SEO (Content is King)

Every time we create and develop your website, there are SEO practices that we implement that WILL determine your SEO success or failure. This is the benefit of hiring a qualified Web Professional (READ: Skill-Level that is the same as ours, not your neighbor’s nephew’s cousin or a pretender) who understands what is needed for your particular Optimization Goals.

If your site is currently not ranking well, and is made up primarily of short, generic articles, it may be time for a revamp of your current content.

We can lead, demonstrate or teach you and your collaborative business team (via workshops) simple consistent techniques to reach your Content Marketing goals.

If you pay attention to the next SEO article (I should have it up in the next day or so); a list of To-Do items and implement them, I promise you your SEO score will improve from what it is today. If not, call me.
